If you stuck it out for two hours of ABC’s Bachelor Pad, chances are you hung around for at least 30 seconds of the season premiere of Dating in the Dark. You remember this show, right? New cast each episode; three guys and three girls feel around in the darkness and occasionally converse to see if they like each other’s “personalities”? No? That’s probably for the best. This show is a total crapfest that I’m thinking can best be recapped via pictures. Ironic, don’t you think? Because they’re in the dark.
Natasha wins this week’s prestigious Best Euphemism for ‘Unemployed’ award.
Joey, 31, is the villain of the episode. He’s just sitting there and you already hate him, especially his most prized possession: his hair. Joey thinks his hair looks awesome.
Kym, 27, should consider washing her hair. Warning, guys: Kym only likes men with perfect teeth! And yet these are her teeth.
By the way, the interior decoration of this house is insane. Here’s host Rossi Morreale explaining this “most unusual dating experiment.” Marvel at the strange orange pineapple/container behind him. A true hidden gem!
Hideous wall art for a hideous “man.”
Seriously what is going on with the decor? You know we can see this, right, ABC? Not every scene occurs in the dark. Show some respect.
Finally! They’re dating in the dark. The introductions are as awkward as they seem.
Ewwwwwwwwwwww. Joey: “I did the Ray Charles wrist check so I could see if they were thin or they were heavy. I felt Natasha’s wrist and felt it was plump, and I was just kind of turned off, for me.”
The anti-plump crusade continues as Joey checks Natasha’s waist for extra, or rather any body fat during the first few seconds of their one-on-one date.
And she’s delighted! “I don’t think Joey’s a bad guy,” says Natasha the fatty. “I think it shows that he’s a bit more clueless than rude, and I just think that’s endearing.”
Joey demonstrates the dimensions of Natasha’s grotesque “inner tube” of flesh for the other two guys. Tragically for viewers, he is not about to drown.
To add insult to injury, Natasha’s best friend, Tatiana, reveals in a video diary that Natasha is a vegetarian for ethical reasons! “No wayyyyy. No, no, no.” Joey is devastated. A “fat” vegetarian, huh? I mean what are the chances?
Natasha’s one-on-one date with Dave, the 26-year-old PR guy, went a bit better. Here she is overdoing it after Dave unleashed his secret weapon — his sense of humor — by making a hilarious joke. Natasha said she used to be “on keys” in her school band, and Dave shot back, “Which means ‘keyboard,’ right? YOU DIDN’T JUST JINGLE KEYS?”
No, silly! I didn’t just jingle keys! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha I’m about to fall over!
Meanwhile, tall Kym makes the best zombie of the group. “Oh God,” she mutters in disgust upon realizing Joey is five inches shorter than her.
Natasha overacts AGAIN upon hearing Rossi’s big news that they would now get to view the results of the compatibility tests. “Perfect!” she squeals. But it’s not.
Kym delivers the most sensible line of the night: “Look how stupid our names look together.”
Storm is zombie Kym’s knight in shiny gold hoop earring armor at the start of their compatibility date. Uh oh. Are man-jewels a deal breaker, ladies?
…you deceptive, nice-personality-having jackass.
Yeah, Joey! Gotta booze it up for your compatibility date with a giant flotation device, bro.
Joey and Natasha’s compatibility date is just more of the same. This time he feels her entire midsection to make sure his snap judgment that she was huge had been correct. “Natasha, will you please stand up so I can get an idea of your full figure?”
And she’s okay with it! “I’ll be honest, I thought you were a little thicker than that,” Joey admits. But he’s still not sure and embarks on a thorough belly check. “You’re feeling my tummy?” she asks, bewildered. “Abso-LUTE-ly!” he announces, proud as can be. I’m amazed she’s still in the room.
After Joey describes his painful experience with an ex-girlfriend who “blew up like a tick” and assured Natasha that it was okay if she’d ever been heavy before as long as bulimia or the gym will keep her fit for the long run, it slowly begins to dawn on Natasha that Joey is a huge asshole.
There it is.
One of Natasha’s eyes takes a bit longer to catch up.
Jerk.
Yay! Kym decided to look past Storm’s earring (or in this case, screw her eyes shut) and meet him on the balcony of romantic success. They’re dating in the daylight!
But DRAMA! Natasha and Jessica both chose Dave, and he ended up requesting a daylight dating experience with Jessica. The two looked so much alike that I’m convinced there’s a 50 percent chance Dave meant to choose the other one. Here’s Jessica sticking it to that loser Natasha.
F— me gently with a chainsaw, Veronica!
I almost prefer this Natasha reaction shot from earlier, right after Jessica emerged from her compatibility date with Dave to announce “I’m really interested in him.”
And then Jessica fell. (Not really.)
The end.

The Good
“Carlos Miller and his blog Photography Is Not A Crime has to be the best blog I have come across to date that documents the ongoing battle that photographers and videographers are facing in increasing numbers.”
Hodson Report
“Anyone who promises to 'mock, madden and maybe even muckrake' has my attention – especially when he's fighting for my right to plant my sticks wherever the Constitution says I can.”
Lenslinger
“With a seemingly increasing number of stories of police harassing and arresting photographers making headlines, one man has made it his job to watch the police.” B-roll
“This is not a partisan issue. It's a police abuse-of-power issue, and 'security' is no excuse for this sort of totally unacceptable and unconstitutional behavior by officers of the law. Carlos Miller is a great source of information about these unfolding stories.”
Brendan Loy
Carlos Miller runs “one of Miami's best blogs.” Miami New Times
“If you read enough of his site, you start to understand that Miller has a bit of an ability to instigate. I don't blame him for this. I think that in order for society to progress, authority must continually be challenged.” Modern College Life
“No matter what you think of what he does, Miller's actions are edgy and in your face and make for some riveting video. Who knew taking pictures could be so controversial? We all do, thanks to Carlos Miller. “ The South Florida Daily Blog
The Bad
“This Carlos Miller character is just a jerk, no redeeming social or personal value.”
Conservative Cave
“You're a good writer, Carlos, but until you're able to recognize and acknowledge your biases, your quests for justice will be seen by most as little more than sour grapes by a man with a chip on his shoulder.” South Florida Daily Blog
The Ugly
“You are a cockroach and boil on the ass of journalism in Miami and the sooner that responsible journalists in Miami disown you and repudiate your actions the better.”
“Hank”
“Your arrogant, crass, thug-like behavior crops up at every turn. One only need to read your blog to see that.
You can’t seem to cover anything without getting into a potentially violent confrontation.”

Dear All,
Here's an odd question that might prove interesting to some.
We keep Budgies. At the moment we have four of them. In our researches into all things Budgie-related we understand that they see things very differently from humans.
For one thing they see a flicker-rate of twice that of humans, so much so that they can see the stars and sun move. Consequently, the new energy-saving lightbulbs might appear as a strobing or rapid-lighthouse effect to them. For another, they cannot see a thing in poor or dim light.
Of greater relevance to Photography Forum is the fact that they can see in Ultraviolet. Their feathers can refract this light in ways that humans cannot see. This has a big effect on courtship and social status for Budgies. The equivalent is how shiny white teeth and healthy skin are seen by humans.
An example of the sort of effect we are interested in can be found on BBC News by searching for Love Birds Glow Crazy. The article is dated 03 January 2002. Unfortunately, as this is our first post on this forum we are not yet allowed to post links.
We would like to see photographs of our Budgies as they see themselves. We think it might explain some of their behaviours and relationships. It would be extremely interesting for us to see.
We know that Ultraviolet cameras exist but we can't seem to find any on the internet. We are not interested in buying such a camera, but we would really like some help in finding out how technically possible is it to photograph Budgies in Ultraviolet Light. We would also be very grateful if we could be directed to anyone who has an Ultraviolet camera and would like to help.
By the way, if there is anyone interested in helping we live in London (UK).
I look forward to any replies.
Many Thanks,
Paul.
(BudgieMad)
Macro Photography is an art of getting close up pictures. There are special lenses available to take the close pictures neat and clear. Sometimes camera can capture those small things which you can’t even imagine to watch with naked eyes. This is the reason why macro photography is so elegant. As I am a professional photographer I love to take the close shots and today I am going to share some of the best macro photography shots.

I guess that God did make “Adam & Steve” after all. I heard a priest on the local San Diego News this morning claiming that approving gay marriage was going to somehow promote bigamy??? I somehow missed that on the gay agenda. I really need to try to attend the meetings more often. Another lady explained that she had nothing against gay people getting married but she hoped that they would be discreet in public. She was concerned that by witnessing same sex couples kissing, hugging or holding hands that her grand-daughter would somehow be denied a write to choice??? Huh? If nothing else it would show her that there is no shame in homosexuality. So hug your friends and hold hands in public! And be sure to kiss on the lips in front of as many people as possible.
Simulating the arid, rocky terrain explorers might encounter on future space missions to planets and moons, from July 26 to August 8, 2010, the NASA Ames Intelligent Robotics Group (IRG) is conducting robotic field test at the Haughton Crater on Devon Island in the Canadian Arctic. Scientists are putting robotics to the test, partnering with NASA to assess concepts for future remote planetary exploration as part of the Haughton-Mars Project, or HMP-2010.
“Explorers, such as geologists, often find themselves with a set of observations they would have liked to make, or samples they would have liked to take, if only they had been able to stay longer at a site,” said Terry Fong, director of the Intelligent Robotics Group at NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif. “Our work this year is to study how remotely operated robots, perhaps even vehicles previously used for crew transport, can be used to perform follow-up work.”
Site surveys can involve tedious and repetitive tasks, and by using teleoperated robots for follow-up activities, NASA is hoping to pull more useful information from their missions.
The potential challenges of remote research are great. From communication and transportation logistics to weather and instrument efficiency, space work is a desolate environment, and the Canadian arctic puts NASA engineers to the test.

Eco-friendly transportation is no longer merely a fad but now a necessity in greening our lives. Whether your green transportation of choice is your bicycle, your local bus line, or even your feet, we here at HuffPost Green salute you, green traveler!
Did you know that every year Americans spend 47 hours in rush hour traffic, which totals 3.7 billion hours and 23 billion gallons of gas used? Or that if just 10 percent of Americans switched to public transportation, the United States would use roughly 40 percent less foreign oil? How about if twice as many Americans used public transportation 1.4 billion gallons of gasoline (2,100 Olympic swimming pools) would be saved every year?

Electric Pig has managed to snap some of the first photos of Apple's Covent Garden retail store in London. The new store was announced last week and is Apple's largest store by total square footage.
Spread over two floors, the Apple Store Covent Garden features beautifully restored masonry, with stone arches inside and out. It's a masterful blend of old and new, which suits the environs of Covent Garden perfectly.
The London Evening Standard reports that customers will enter through an eight-bay arcade marked by 20-foot stone arches and lit with restored gas lamps. The company has said to have taken pains to preserve the architecture while restoring the building.
Photos from Electric Pig
The store will be open to the press tomorrow with the public opening on Saturday. Electric Pig has a gallery of 10 shots of the exterior of the new store.

Specifications: These laptops are two of my favorite model of the laptop for the past year. The Apple MacBook MC207LL / A is an optional 13.3-inch laptops-full, while the Asus UL30A-X5 is a stylish ultra-thin model. Both models have a very strong selling points and I would certainly be a very difficult time if I had a choice to buy one. The model Apple has a 2.26 GHz processor, 2 GB of DDR3 RAM and 250GB of storage. The Asus modelOn the other hand has a 1.3GHz processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and 500 GB of memory. Although the laptop Apple has a stronger processor and enough RAM for the Asus model makes storage more for her. If you do not have a lot of heavy processing tasks on a laptop (such as running heavy applications), specifications on the Asus machine that would prove more than sufficient.
Design: The Apple MacBook MC207LL / A is a full-size laptops,a weight of 4.7 kg. The Asus UL30A-X5 is only 0.98 cm thick and is much more portable at only 3.74 pounds. Apple's MacBook sports a white shell uni-body exterior made of polycarbonate, while the UL30A X5 has a beautiful case in brushed metal. There is no doubt that the model Asus is the aesthetic of the machine more portable, but in the form of the two models are among the most stylish notebooks on the market.
Product performance: Given theRAM on Asus UL30A-X5 is designed for multitasking seriously. The average user will find this model more than sufficient for the execution of tasks processing daily. The Apple MacBook MC207LL / A is more suitable for the treatment of moderate to severe PC tasks. The DVD drive also come in handy (not in model Asus). The battery MC207LL / A to seven hours on a single charge, while the battery last on UL30A-X5 can last up to an impressive 12 hours on a bin laden. In general, both models prove to be excellent, laptops have 13.3-inch, depending on personal preferences and needs calculation. Currently, the Apple MacBook MC207LL / A, the price is about $ 954 each, while Asus UL30A X5 is trading at about $ 691.

I purchased an iBook for college, being an Apple user since 2006. I've tried PCs on the side, but programming on a Mac is top-notch and really professional with XCode. This isn't even mentioning usage and speed! My new iBook runs like a charm! I can run Windows(R) XP (in an emulator, of course), Safari, iTunes, and several other apps at the same time, with plenty of speed left. Try that on a PC!
I think this notebook is really the Apple version of a netbook–only WITH a CD drive. It's still about as small and light even with the CD drive.
Plus, it came with all the aethestics looking great, as well as the hardware. It's about 1 to 2/10 cheaper than a MacBook as well, so if you don't want to buy a MacBook, then get an iBook!
However, new PC users need to check out Mac Help from the Help menu, then click “New to OS X?” and then click “Windows switchers” to get started. The trackpad tends to be more sensitive on here, so make sure your hands are clean before use. Just to let you know.
Finally, if you like gaming or need a big screen, the iBook is not what you'd be looking at–in that case, look more at a MacBook Pro. But if you want a computer that 'just works', get an iBook.
